In-Service Master’s Program Course Requirement

From 2023 fall semester

Graduation Credits:

Graduate students in the in-service master’s program of the Department must complete at least 36 credits upon graduation, which includes 6 credits of required courses, 24 credits of professional elective courses, and 6 credits of the master’s thesis.

Professional Elective Courses:

Graduate students may take at least 8 free elective courses with 3 credits each in the two main fields, “Labor Relations and Policy” and “Human Resources.” After completing the courses with a total 24 credits, the student may apply for a degree examination. The courses offered will depend on the arrangement of teachers and the course selection of students (it shall not be offered with less than 12 students). The following courses can be considered as free elective courses for the graduate school in the Department, and the grade of study can be decided according the actual class situation.

Notes:

  1. The number of credits of the courses taken in each semester of the first year shall not be less than 6 and shall not be less than 3 in the second year.
  2. For semesters without any courses, the graduate student still needs to register. Please pay attention to the dates of registration, course selection and course addition and withdrawal.
  3. Graduate students shall pass the review of the thesis according to the regulations before applying for a degree examination.
  4. The credits in the in-service master’s program in the Department are taken into account rather than the credits of programs in other departments, and the credits of the programs in the school are taken into account rather than the credits of the programs in other schools. The maximum number of credit waivers is 9, but the maximum number of credit waivers for any student who has studied in the Department but dropped out without obtaining the degree is 15 (calculated based on 50% of total credits minus the thesis credits.) The standard is decided by the departmental meeting.
  5. The application for a credit waiver shall be proceeded during the appointed period in the first semester of the first year, and it cannot be reapplied afterwards. (It can be reapplied only if the course has never been offered and that it is unable to be proceeded during the appointed period). The date of application shall be based on the school calendar; therefore, it cannot be proceeded afterwards.
  6. Graduate students admitted in Academic Year 2017 shall take the course of Academic Research Ethics Education before the end of the first semester in the first year according the “Regulations of Academic Research Ethics Education for Graduate Students in National Chung Cheng University.” Students shall pass the course with proof before applying for a degree examination.
  7. Since the second semester in Academic Year 2018, plagiarism detection of thesis originality shall be proceeded and detection similarity shall be less than 30% before the graduate student applies for a degree examination.
