Master’s Program Course Requirement

From 2023 fall semester

Graduation Credits:

  1. Except of the master’s thesis, graduate students in the Department must complete at least 32 credits upon graduation, which include 5 credits of required courses and 27 credits of elective courses.
  2. The student who has not taken the professional courses in Labor Law shall first take “Introduction to Labor Law” for undergraduate students in the Department.
  3. Students shall apply to the Department before taking any courses in other departments.
  4. Whether the credits can be included in graduation credits shall be decided according to the subsequent departmental meeting.
  5. In complying with relevant regulations, the student’s thesis shall be successfully reviewed before applying for a degree examination. (The graduate student shall at least either publish a paper with an oral presentation as the first author in a conference of a related field or submit a paper to an anonymous journal with a double-blind peer review for acceptance as the first or corresponding author).

Professional Elective Courses:

Each graduate student is permitted to take at least 7 free elective courses with 3 credits each in the two main fields of “Labor Relations and Policy” and “Human Resources,” and also “Common Courses.” In addition, each graduate student is permitted to take 6 credits of graduate-level or PhD-level course in the home department or other departments. After completing the courses with a total of 27 credits, the student may apply for a degree examination. The following courses can be considered as free elective courses for the graduate school in the Department, and the grade of study can be decided according the actual class situation.

Foreign Language Proficiency

  1. “English Proficiency Test” is regulated in two stages:
  1. First Stage:

The graduate student in the Department shall pass any of the following English Proficiency Tests before applying for a degree examination.

Note: The test certificate shall be issued within 4 years as valid proof of English proficiency when the graduate student makes an application to the Department.

  1. Second Stage:

The graduate student who has not achieved the passing standard of the tests can take any course offered in English or at least one required core course in the “Applied Languages Studies (Certificate Program)” during the semester. The passed credits (70 is the passing score for graduate students and 60 is for undergraduate students) can be used as the substitute for the passing standard of “English Proficiency Test.” For the course taken in the “Applied Languages Studies (Certificate Program),” please check the regulations of the Center for Language Studies in NCCU.

Notes

  1. The number of credits of the courses taken in each semester of the first year shall not be less than 6 and shall not be less than 3 in the second year.
  2. Registration is still required for semesters without any courses to prevent dropping out. Please pay attention to the dates of registration, course selection and course addition and withdrawal.
  3. Graduate students shall pass the review of the thesis according to the regulations before applying for a degree examination.
  4. Graduate students admitted in Academic Year 2017 shall take the course of Academic Research Ethics Education before the end of the first semester in the first year according the “Regulations of Academic Research Ethics Education for Graduate Students in National Chung Cheng University.” Students shall pass the course with proof before applying for a degree examination.
  5. Since the second semester in Academic Year 2018, plagiarism detection of thesis originality shall be proceeded and detection similarity shall be less than 30% before the graduate student applies for a degree examination.
